Hunter in the Garden

Mark said she looked like a hunter. I think she looks like a wethead. Anyway, she's been sniffing out the chipmunks, bunnies, squirrels, and no telling what else. We had a nice rain last night, so the seedlings should be happier. Kelly is now snoozing, taking her early morning nap, to be followed by her noon nap, and afternoon nap. She has to keep up her energy for all these hunting trips.

Lunch Today

We had some people over for lunch today. Lots and lots of food, good company, and sunshine.

Kathy gave me the spider. He looks great with the angelique growing up through him.

Yellow in the Michigan Gardens

These shots are from PJ and mama's gardens, taken a few weeks ago. I'm sure everything has changed so much since I was there. PJ gave me a "little leo" leapord's bane, which I've never noticed before. It was really showy in her early spring garden. And the shot of the yucca with creeping Jenny is from mama's garden. I love the combination.

It's Friday!

This was PJ's dogwood that was in bloom when I went up to visit. Wish she was here with me to weed this weekend!

Lori and Todd gave me this for my 50th. He looks so cute on the post.

3 for $10

These ninebark diablo shrubs were little guys that I found at Lowe's in the fall. This is just their second spring here. Really nice dark foliage with this little white bloom that ages to pink.

Not Sure

These are the first and second blooms for this iris. The first one was a sick looking yellow/green with a little bit of blue streaking. The second bloom is better. I showed it to V and she said, "What is that thing?" Mark's not crazy about it. So the jury is still out on this one.

Michigan Garden

We were out driving around close to mama's house and passed this little garden. Isn't it cute? Lots of conifers for the winter garden. I have no evergreens in the back yard, because I've just not wanted to give up the space for them. But this is really sweet and might inspire me to add a few. Love the buddha statue!

Back to Work Today

Seems like I've been off for quite a while, so I guess I'm ready to go back. But it's hard to leave flowers like this!

Patty's Plum

This opened up while I was gone. So glad it lasted til I got back.

Lord Danvers

Actually, I can't remember the exact name of his character, but Jeff was great in the play. I'm so glad I got to go see him and be with mama and PJ. We had a wonderful time.

Michigan

We went to a huge wholesale greenhouse today. It has been pouring down rain and cold. Here's mama and PJ, checking out the petunias on the far side. There was one building after another filled with flat after flat.

Aphids

Who could blame me for waking Mark up early to bring out the rose spray? It was definitely justified.

World Premier

This one was too pretty to leave in the garden today. It went to work with me.

Happy Birthday

Today is Judson's birthday. He's 23 and I'm so proud of him! Here he is with Rachel. This was taken at Perkins on our last visit to Lexington. Wish we were all at breakfast together this morning!
