James Lutke Class

James Lutke sculpts amazing things out of branches and wire. Today he taught a class in St. Louis. My fingernails are a mess, my hands are sore, my feet ache. It was great. I loved every minute!

This is the garden that Jan's son designed and built for his Eagle Scout project. We love it.

Wait til Next Fall

Every year I look for something that will be fantastic in our fall garden. This year it's pretty ho-hum. Here's an idea for next year--lantana at the feet of the grasses.

Vacation Reading

I read these books while we were at Kentucky Lake.
--Almost Moon was about a woman who kills her demented mother. Enough said.
--The sweethearts book was okay. It's about a woman whose husband gets terminal cancer and she calls up his mistresses to help her sit with him. It could have been really good, but then it took a romance novel turn and I just didn't care for it much.
--When I read Home, I didn't like it because the characters were all depressed with very sad lives. But I've thought about it quite a bit since then, so I would say it's a pretty good book, but still sad.
Leave a comment--I'd love to hear what you're reading!

Patti's

Laura met us at Patti's for a great lunch. It was so good to see her! We didn't eat outside, but here's a shot of a little gazebo hidden in the garden.
