June 2022

The volunteer petunias are outshining the alabama sunset coleus so far.

Mark and Kyle with a good fire going.  Skye was happy :)
We had to say goodbye to Walker.  He was feeling so bad.  He's a great cat, I know he's having a great time hunting in the garden on the other side.  And he sent  this cute little Annie girl right away!

Mama got thru her surgery.  We're glad that's over for her!
No pictures of mama's garden?  I don't know how that didn't happen.  Here's Powers Pond.
And now we're thru June--half of 2022 already gone.  Wonder what July will bring?

October Report

We made it through the first anniversary of Judson's passing.  We miss him terribly, but we are thankful that we had him as long as we did and that we have Betsy and Kyle and Rachel here with us to love.

And Tami has been gone a whole year too.   I wish she had been here to help me thru this last year, but still I talk to her everyday and I know she's been by my side.
I love this picure of Isaac.  He's in the middle of finding something to mine in that wall behind him so he's in his element here and looks so happy.
My mama shot through her cardiac valve replacement surgery like a rock star.  It was amazing to be with her and with PJ to celebrate how well it went!
We got to go to Mrs Grae's greenhouse again :)
We planted this Winter Orange Japanese Maple in the back yard.  It just glows with the late afternoon sun.

Happy Birthday to my Mama!

I'm usually at mama's on her birthday, but I went up a couple weeks earlier this year.  Peony-wise, it was perfect timing.  We had a wonderful visit but I miss them terribly when I get back home.

The fanciest of the peonies didn't have much of that heavenly smell, as often happens with hybrids--fragrance gets lost when the plant is changed to make bigger "better" blooms.    But still, we gravitated towards this one because the blooms were so pretty and they matched mama & PJ's perfect t's to a t.  They are as cute as the peony!

So happy happy birthday to my beautiful sweet mama today.  I love you and am so proud to be your daughter.

A little before & after

My mama is just the cutest ever!  She's 80 years young and this is proof it's never too late to go low carb.  On the left, taken two years ago when we visited The Farm.  Picture on the right taken yesterday.  Thank you to PJ for sending this one--I love the apron and she looks so happy.  Wish I could have been there to hang out with you all too.  Love love to my Michigan peeps :)

PS:  Mama--will you make me an apron too??

Christmas Road Trip

Lisa was so happy to get her Macie dog!  She found her at the same shelter where Biscuit was rescued.
And Macie's rescue was the perfect excuse for a road trip to Madisonville to see JD and Rach & the kids.
My mom looks so beautiful!
I wish  PJ could have been there--when is the next road trip?
Merry Merry Christmas to all :)

Michigan June

A few pictures from the birthday celebration in Michigan:
Not one, but TwO birthday cakes :)
Where's Ray??
Rachel posted this sweet birthday message
My mama has been urban gardening ever since she was transplanted to Michigan 40+ years ago.  It's amazing to see how many vegetables & flowers she can grow on her little plot.  The strawberries were delicious!  They were my splurge instead of cake this year.
If we look a little sad here, it's because we were saying good-bye.  It's always hard to leave.  Time to plan the next visit!
