August News

We have a new picture for our fishing wall.  Kyle caught some huge catfish at Carol's pond.  He and Mark had so much fun!

 We had chocolate keto ice cream while the kids were visiting!

Mark said this was as happy as he's been since we started eating this way :P

I celebrated being able to fit in the back seat with Betsy & Kyle.  We went to see Despicable Me 3 and it was so cute.   

Jennifer posted this sweet picture of her with Isaac.  They are living on the beach this summer.  It sounds like quite the adventure.  I can't wait to meet her.

 Betsy is only about an inch shorter than me now.  She's way passed V in height.

 The kids love to go to Sgt Pepper's for their pancakes.  We have keto pancakes at home and they're okay with them.  But at Peppers, they go for the the plate sized regular ones.

And 40 years ago this month, Tommy and I had that bad accident.   He and Nan are my guardian angels.  I know they are happy for me to have an August like this.  And Mark, Tommy would say buy the new boat :)

This Is As Halloween As It Gets

 We had a wonderful vacation and are back home now.  Everybody keeps asking "are you having fun now that you're retired?"  And the answer is  yes & no.  Yes because we've gone to the lake for two whole weeks, because I am definitely letting go of feeling responsible for everything bad that can possibly happen in a little psychiatric hospital, and because I have a lot more time for pinterest :)

 And no, not so much.  I miss morning coffee when we're all going over what happened last night & what we have to do for the day,  salads for lunch with Nat & Fran,  mid-afternoon chocolate when everybody needs a break from the stress. I miss my team. . .  On the other hand, I have a lot more time for pinterest :)

So today, I bought a few pumpkins and pulled out the halloween stuff from the basement. And I may make a little halloween arrangement for the kitchen, but I think this is about it for now. 

Tomorrow I'll start a week of training for a new part-time job.  'Cause I'm still a social worker at heart and I'm not really ready to be completely retired just yet.  But this time,  less stress and not so much worrying.   Even this little bit of retirement has taught me that :)

Our new full-view storm door, with the sweet potato vine doing it's crazy thing this summer.  Last year's color scheme was pink, yellow, blue.  This year's blue and green.  Next year's plan is blue & purple.

I posted the first version of this a few weeks ago. Ever since we made it in class, I've been finding other stuff to put in it. I had more, but I think this is enough for now. Maybe I'll start collecting for the next one.
