Smile
Mama sent this to me a couple of years ago and when I ran across it last night, it made me smile all over again. It's from Jeff Stahler's Moderately Confused comic strip. I have to add him to my favorites list.

The Boys
While we're waiting for Betsy, here's a very old picture of me with Judson and Isaac. Isaac was brand new then.

January Days
I feel like I'm just waiting and waiting these days. Waiting for our Betsy (very soon!), waiting for classes to start again (Thursday!), and waiting for spring (it's 14 degrees this morning, so that's going to take a while). Just got the latest Plant Delights catalog, which is always good medicine on a cold winter day. Laura, there's even a hosta named Elvis Lives! http://plantdelights.com/

From Santa
This is so cool! Can't wait to start watering again. Cannas and coleus and elephant ears and petunias and mandavilla and on and on and on . . . And by the way, do you see all that creeping charlie? It's all over the place.

Going Going
Ten days in the vase! They've been wonderful, popping open bud by bud. When all ten blooms opened, the smell was huge! I put them out on the back porch during this wonderfully mild weather we've had. Which is also going, going.

This would have been Tommy's 54th birthday. He loved going over to Southern Illinois and racing through those hills--the muddier the better. And somehow, this vase wound up in our high school colors--black and gold. It wasn't intentional, but once they came together it seemed like a good fit with the day.

Happy Birthday Rachel!
This is one of my favorite pictures of Rachel and Judson. I think it was taken their first Thanksgiving back home after they moved to Lexington. I bet Betsy will like this one too--I can't wait to show her all my pictures of her mom and dad. If you go back to last year's birthday post for Rachel, I mentioned some of the main reasons that I love her. This year, I'd add Betsy to that list! Have a great day, Rachel. It's going to be a great year.

January
This nest is in the pee gee hydrangea tree. I never noticed it until just recently. Everything reminds me of Betsy these days. I can't wait to show her the garden. The days are getting longer! Mark said yesterday's sunset was 40 seconds later than the day before. He told me this when we were leaving work at 5 pm--and it was still light outside! Right now it's only 4 degrees out there. Brrrr.
