Children's Garden at MBG

When we visited the MBG last month, we really liked this little exhibit in the children's garden.  This section was built as a "jail", with posters of the most-wanted outlaws of the plant world.And here's the graveyard, memorializing extinct or near-extinct plants.
We thought it was fun, interesting way to spread the message.  Don't plant loosestrife, no matter how pretty it is, cause you'll be sorry.  And just the opposite of loosestrife,  don't disturb those precious little plants that need tender loving care in their own homes. 
And then, there's the playground!  We can't wait to take Betsy and Kyle :-)

Do you suppose the botanical garden has no rabbits?  I didn't see  a one while we were there.  Plenty of squirrels, chipmunks, and a sign that said "please don't feed the foxes" . . . oohhhhh . . . so that's how they can grow lettuce like this!

Mark is 50 years young today!  The Missouri Botanical Garden is one of our favorite places to visit.  And you know, rain makes it even better :-)

MBG Tulips

The tulip combos at the botanical garden were awesome. Incredible. All underplanted with pansies. I don't think I'd want to put all that work into this kind of bed in the yard, but it would make a killer container for the front porch. I'll have to put that on my to-do list for next spring.

Wisteria

Gift

This statue, at the Missouri Botanical Garden, was a gift from the people of Zimbabwe to the US after 9/11. It's so pretty. I wish I could work with stone like that.

Daffodil Show

We went to the daffodil show at the Missouri Botanical Garden yesterday. They hadn't finished judging when we were there, so best in show hadn't been chosen yet. I don't know how anyone would ever be able to choose. We overheard the judges. Everytime they looked at a group, they would ask, "Which one is the worst? Okay, now which one is the worse?" How could you pick a "worst"? They were all beautiful. Mark said they started to all look alike after we had looked at about five hundred. I didn't see a bad one in the bunch.
