Before Pictures

More pictures from last weekend, before the frost.  Mark and I made a trip to St. Louis, so I didn't get out there today to see what happened.  Can't believe tomorrow's the last day of October!

Monday Flowers

Flowers make any day better, but especially Mondays :)  We had a great weekend here at Canada Garden.  Lots of beautiful weather.  A trip to The Farm, where they make it easy to come home and make spiced apple cider!
Digging and transplanting in the garden to winter over some plants from the containers.  A (very) little  bit of cleaning and clutter-clearing.  A walk with the dogs on the trail.
The Social Network--yes, Mark went to the movies!--which turned out to be sooo interesting.  And then last night it started to storm.  So glad to see the rain, but not the hail!
And now it's Monday.   The plan is to work this morning, then to St. Louis with my friend Patty for a flower class this afternoon :)  Hope your Monday is good too.

Book Review

As promised, here's a picture of my new kindle. Love that red cover!  I finished reading Freedom, Oprah's book pick.    The characters  changed over the course of the story and they all surprised me.  I wonder why Oprah picked it.  Jonathan Franzen wouldn't go on her show when she picked his other book, The Corrections.
I have new books loaded on the kindle, but the days of sitting on the porch swing in the sunshine are coming to a close for the season.   I'll have to settle for a place on the couch in front of the fireplace for the next few months :)

My own little tribute to the pink campaign this month.

Artful Bra Pennies

There's never a way to pick  to pick my favorite entry.  (It's like the garden.  Most any flower at it's peak bloom time is my favorite.)  This entry is from the Lincoln Ladies at Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library.   I think mannequins display them  better than a hanger.
But then, I like the ones that are made in honor or memory of an individual too.  The designer of this one made it in honor of her mom who has survived breast cancer twice.  Really nice.  Love that little pink ribbon with the copper.

October

It's Beautiful Bra time at The Wardrobe again!   PJ was with us for their first show three years ago and we had such a good time.  Maybe I can talk her into coming down just for the show  next  year :)   Watch for more pictures of the pink campaign this month!

A Really Nice Day. . .

I went to work for a few hours this morning, then came home and worked in the flower shop this afternoon.  Early evening fishing/reading with Mark, Taste of Thai for dinner and Dancing with the Stars on the TV.  All in all, a really nice Monday!

Book Report

My new kindle isn't in this picture for some reason.  I got to spend a lot of time with it while we were on vacation!  Blame was my very favorite book of the week--Michelle Huneven tells the story of a woman  who must live with her guilt after she running over two people while she was drunk.  It was a great story.

Also read I'd Know You Anywhere by Laura Lippman.  It's a story about a woman who was abducted when she was a teenager and the man who was put on death row for the crime.  It was an interesting story and I was surprised by my judgments while reading it.    Overall a good read.

Flowers for Elvis was about a kooky crazy mixed-up family who owned a florist in Memphis during the Elvis years.  One of the characters sent a dozen roses to Elvis every day. . . Don't you miss Elvis?  Everytime I remember that he's gone, I always think that he was just gone too soon and wonder what he would have been doing these days. . .

Okay, that's my book report for now.  I'll show you a picture of my new kindle when I finish Freedom (Oprah's latest pick).  Have a great weekend!

Fishin' Man

Mark caught fish after fish after fish last week.  Except for a couple of windy days, the weather was perfect all week.    Today it's back to the ranch for us.  Yay!

Jonathan Creek

This was one of my reading/writing spots by the lake last week.   It was a beautiful week. . . gorgeous weather, good books, got to see some family, down-home cooking. . . Still, it's awfully good to be back home again :)
