Kentucky Lake 2025

Another trip to beautiful Kentucky Lake, to our old Kentucky home away from home.  It was a different trip.  First one without a boat, so Mark fished off the dock, where he caught several big fish.  So good days fishing.  We had no internet for some reason which also meant no TV.  That's definitely a first for us! lol  And Friday night, huge storms rolled through.  No damage to the house, thank goodness, but no power either.

Every trip now is full of memories.

Kentucky Lake 2020

They look so happy!!
Kentucky Lake sunset.  So gorgeous.
It rained quite a bit this trip, so Mark got some use out of his rain gear.

It was a good visit.  We were there for October 18th, so that was a sad part; but we got to visit with Laura and Crafton and Brandi at the new Patti's,  Mark fished, I  shopped at Trends and Trees, we ate good food all week and looked out over the beautiful lake.  All in all it was a good visit.  Still, it's good to be home.

September

I loved this picture of Jennifer and Isaac in front of all those beautiful gourds and pumpkins.  I'd love to go to this festival with them next year! Our baby is growing and will be here in another couple of months <3 p="">
Just back from our fall trip to Kentucky Lake.  We got to visit with Laura and it was so good to see her and visit again.  And I'm so proud of her--she's lost 100 pounds!!  YaY!
Mark caught lots of fish this year, but not when I was with him to get pictures.  What's with that??  Anyway, he got lots of fishing time in and the sunsets were so beautiful.

May Report

Remembering Judson every day, but especially on his May 1st birthday.  It was beautiful weather this year and the dogwoods were blooming exactly as I remember them when he was born.
The yard is as pretty as I've ever seen it.
The front door garden, red hibiscus, yellow petunia and portulaca, and crotons for this early spring.
We had a lovely trip to Kentucky Lake, lots of fishing for Mark.
I had never seen other birds at hummingbird feeders, but the orioles loved these.  We also got to watch a little bluebird pair coming and going, although they didn't seem interested in the sugar water.
Sunset from the boat.
Isaac and Jennifer are out in California where they are enjoying beautiful scenery too.

Fall Report

Mark & I meet good friends for breakfast on most Saturday mornings over at Boone's.  We took advantage of the beautiful weather on this date and ate on the patio.  Mark's been busy buying keto t-shirts :)
Morning pages on the back porch.  It's too cold and too dark already to write out there these days.  I can't wait til spring :)
Tabitha took our pictures.
Mark's been working out!

We had such a good time at the lake this year.  It made me so happy to have everybody with us.  Isaac, PJ & Jeff, mama, me, Judson, Mark, Chuck, Kyle, Laura, Rachel, and our Betsy.  Now that was a family dinner :)

More later :)

Annual Spring Vaca @ Jonathan Creek

We've been blessed blessed to be able to go to Jonathan Creek to fish and eat and visit with family for most every year for the past 12 years.
He may not have caught very many fish this time, but Mark caught a few big ones :)
Judson and Rachel brought the kids up and we all went to the Dinner Bell.  We eat differently now, but the Dinner Bell is still a favorite place to eat.  We also went to Patti's and to the Brass Lantern.  And we cooked a lot.  Four pounds of bacon over the course of the week. A couple quarts of heavy cream.  A keto cake for Mark's birthday.    Deviled eggs.  Cauliflower rice.  And western Kentucky barbecue from The Four Little Pigs in Benton and from Starnes in Paducah.  We don't eat pie or cobbler anymore, but we had wonderful meals and we didn't go hungry not one time.
The before picture in Mark's collage was from a couple years ago.
I read good books.  Loved Option B by Sheryl Sandburg & Adam Grant.  I've been worrying way too much lately and this was a perfect read to help me let go a little bit.  The Wally Lamb book was a pretty quick read and I liked it.  I loved Hillbilly Elegy,  J.D.Vance's memoir about his hillybilly family who migrated to Ohio to escape the crushing poverty of southeastern Kentucky.
I journal almost every morning thanks to Pat's Artist's Way classes that I've taken at Unity over the years.  I had a lot to pour out on the page this week.  This was a beautiful place to write.

I got to visit with Sue.  Why didn't I take a picture with her?!?  I talked to my mom almost every day.  Mark and I went to the cemetery.

I was feeling a little (okay, a lot) blue at the first of the week. Seeing Judson and Rachel and Betsy and Kyle, talking with my mom, visiting with Sue, fishing, reading, writing, looking out over the lake, seeing Mark so happy with his fishing, eating good food:  all good medicine and I feel so much better.
We're home safe and sound now.  Can't wait til next time.

Ky Lake Fall 2016

We're home from our fall week at the lake.  This year was especially good because Judson & Rachel & BK came to stay with us a few days too.  And the weather was spectacular!
At Patti's--where I had the low carb friendly 1 inch pork chop.  The company was so good, I didn't miss the pie :)

JD & Rach

After the big Patti's meal, we all walked down to the lookout pier.

With our Judson!

G dog and Skye went with us.  They liked not being home by themselves.  They missed running free in a fenced yard.

JD & family at the bison park at LBL

Another great vacation.  I am happy & grateful for so many blessings
