October Visit

Betsy & Kyle came to see us and we had a wonderful time.  Betsy liked my bubblegum bliss keto ice cream.
V was on the hunt for a bingo game and she found a really nice one at Goodwill.  Betsy & Kyle always like playing board games at V's.  They seemed to really like being the one to spin the ball and announce the letters--B7, etc. . .
They got to have real ice cream at V's too :)
Betsy is taller than V now, almost as tall as me.  Kyle is close behind.  We're loving watching them grow up.  We are beyond blessed.

February Update

It's that time of year to take some cuttings from your forsythia shrubs and bring them inside to get a head start on spring.  February usually seems long and drab but we've had really warm temps lately.  Next week is forecasted for more of the same--50's, 60's, even 70!

But as my friend Doug said last night, "it's all a tease".  He's right, we're bound to have cold and snow and ice again before spring is here for sure.  In the meantime, the bulbs and the weeds in the garden are starting to show their green sprouts.

V had a birthday this month.  She's 79 very young years old.  She and Mark are watching videos from when Betsy and Kyle were little.  Those always make us smile :)

And here's our Skye girl.  She's still really into shoes.  She looks like she's saying, "I'm not doing anything bad.  Really, I'm not!"  But believe me, she can't be trusted with a shoe. . .

Family Visit

We had a fun visit the JD and Rachel & the kids earlier in the month.  It was great having them
This picture is a little misleading because Kyle is pretty much as tall as V too.  We're so glad he doesn't seem to mind having his picture taken now :)
And Rachel sent this photo the other day as they were getting ready to go to church.  Our Betsy is growing up into a young lady.  And we're going to get to see them again soon!

Bye, May

The peonies are close to being gone, one more little vase to take to work this Monday morning.  Cause peonies do make Mondays better :)

And a few more pictures from our Kentucky Lake trip.  We went to the Dinner Bell, of course, where we love to eat home cooking that tastes just like mama's.

We've all got the same kind of smile going on. . . not sure how we managed that.  Maybe because we were all full!
And here's Isaac, leaving in his new car.  Thank you to V for passing it along to him.  The Dinner Bell isn't open for breakfast, so we had to settle for the Cracker Barrel that morning.  He made it home safe and sound all the way to Denver.

Well, it's June now.  It's another beautiful morning here in the garden.  Have a good Monday!

Vacation Report

We're back from the lake.  Had a wonderful time as usual.  Ate good.  Got to spend fun time with our Betsy & Kyle and Rachel.    Lazed around doing not much.  Mark caught some really nice fish and threw them back so he could catch them again next year.
Pies at Patti's.  I had chess pie both times we went.  I can never get enough of chess pie.  Reminds me of mama and grandma's pies.  And Muny's pies too.  We ate at Dinner Bell a couple of times, which has food just like we grew up with.  Fried chicken and vegetables.
It was sad, but we wanted to go to the cemetary.  So hard to believe that Warren is gone, even though it's been a year.
The happiest times are always when we're with Betsy & Kyle.  They make us laugh and love life.

Dinner at V's

V went with us last night to look at the house on the lake again.  She said there's a lot of steps.  There are.  She said there are a lot of sticks in the yard.  There are.  She said it's a nice house.  It is.

Then today, V called and invited us to dinner for salmon patties, green beans, corn, slaw, and cornbread.  With lots of butter :)  It was a great supper and reminded me of  mama and grandma's cooking.  We loved it.

Still no definite decision on the house.  In the meantime, Mark is painting the basement walls and floors.  And I'm responsible for cleaning out the flower area--something that should have been done a while ago!

Birthdays

We've been celebrating a string of birthdays lately.  Betsy's was January 27th, Kyle's February 2nd, and tomorrow February 8th will be V's 75th birthday.

Kyle is telling V about his new dinosaur watch.
He can make you laugh out loud!
Tomorrow night we're taking V to Cheddar's for dinner with coconut cake for dessert afterwards.  We will miss having Kyle & Betsy with us!
