I've got a couple more books on my list for right now, but I've got my eye on a couple that will be coming out soon--Anita Shreve and Wally Lamb. Yay!

Reading List
Finished Pat Conroy's South of Broad
last night. Really really good book. The mothers in his books are such crappy moms; but in the end, he makes them human and forgiveable and loved despite all. Thanks to Chele for loaning me Breakfast with the Buddha
by Roland Murello. It was a sweet book. Easy, quick story about how to live and love.

50 Years
I told you there would be cake! We had a great time. The Precious Moments topper is a tradition. It was on our cake when Mark and I got married, and on a shower cake for Judson and Rachel. Wonder when we'll use it again?!

Pictures Later
Happy Birthday to my little sister, PJ!
Happy Anniversary to V and Warren, who have been married 50 years today!
And Mark and I will be celebrating as well. Twenty-one years ago, we got married on V and Warren's anniversary and on PJ's birthday.
There's going to be cake today. Lots of cake. Yea!

Last Day of August 2009
It's been a great gardening summer. Only one stretch of 100 degree heat that I can remember--and that was in June. Otherwise, we've had nice rain and mild temps. So bring on the fall! Mums are already blooming. And the pumpkins are coming!
Here you can see I let the poke grow all summer just for these berries. Now I have to get it cut right away so I won't have an overrun next year. Although it may be too late already!

Happy Birthday Kathy
Well, I'm not sure that the corsage fully worked today, but I sure got lots of compliments on it and it seemed to make other people smile. Someone asked me if it was a special occasion, and I remembered that today is Kathy's birthday! So everytime someone mentioned the corsage, I thought of Kathy. Hope she had a really great birthday.

This is a terrible shot, but I wanted to tell you about Gale Myers. I love her photos. Her family owned an art house here in Springfield for years. I just found her website, and she has a whole collection of fun tractor photos!
