Coleus

Before

After
It's about time to take cuttings of the coleus to overwinter.  And maybe the sweet potato vines too.   I remember one time when I was a little girl, I pulled up one of mammy's coleus just because I didn't like it.  Back then I didn't  know anything about "foliage".   I didn't know how valuable plants--foliage or blooming---must have been to mammy.  Where did she get that coleus?  We didn't have a  Lowe's back then.  She was mad at me, but she didn't get a switch.  Maybe she was tired that day.

I would have gotten the switch.

Did mammy switch you too? When you were five, she would have been in her seventies. Thank goodness no more switching!

I don't remember her switching me. But she sure knew how to lay on the guilt treatment! I remember whenever I played outside where she could see me from her trailer...I just knew she was watching me, waiting for me to come and visit. And then when I did, she laid it on thick. But she would always peel an apple for us to share (and they were so good.) She could peel it in one long peel.

I wasn't saying anything bad. And you know that little Jesus plaque I got from her place...Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free???? I'm only speaking the truth!
